Recorded Live Births 2024

Statistics South Africa receives Recorded Live Births (RLB) data from the Department of Home Affairs (DHA). The data include current birth registrations and birth occurrences for 2024 recorded for a period of 14 months, covering January 2024 to February 2024. Additionally, information on late birth registrations – i.e. births that occurred in 2022 and earlier years but were captured between January 2024 and February 2024 – are included. Primarily, the age of the child at registration determines the categorisation of the birth.
